Science Week

During Week 4, Monday, 11 August to Friday, 15 August, the Science teachers have a number of classroom and lunchtime activities planned for Science Week in conjunction with National Science Week.

Below shows the activities that are planned for the week.

 

Monday, 11 August

Science Week Collaborative Learning Activities

Year 1 and 3 students will be working in pairs to create coding bracelets. This activity will take place during normal lesson times.

• 9:30 am: Year 1 students in Room 55 will work with the Year 3 students in Room 33.

Science Week Lunchtime Activity (Year 2 Students) 

Today, Year 2 students can choose to participate in a science activity at lunchtime today.

Ms Kearney will be investigating bubbles in the Block 1 Alcove.

Tuesday, 12 August

Science Week Collaborative Learning Activities 

We have various collaborative learning activities taking place. These activities will take place during normal lesson times.

• 9:30 am: Year 1 students in Room 12 will work with the Year 3 students in Room 36 to create coding bracelets.
• 10:50 am: Year 5, Room 20 students will work with Kindy A students to make paper aeroplances
• 10:50 am: Year 2, Room 52 students will work with Year 4, Room 37 students in an engineering activity.
• 11:50 am: Year 2 students in Room 16 will work with the Year 4 students in Room 54 to create coding bracelets.

Science Week Lunchtime Activity (Year 5 and 6 Students) 

Today’s lunchtime science activity is for Year 5 and 6 students. Ms Ram will help students to build a mirror maze in the Senior Science Room. Year 5 and 6 students will need to “sign up” as there is a limit to the number of students who can participate. A sign-up sheet will be placed outside the Senior Science room.

Wednesday, 13 August

Science Week Collaborative Learning Activities

Today, Year 1 and 3 students will be working in pairs to create coding bracelets. This activity will take place during normal lesson times.

• 9:30 am: Year 1 students in Room 15 will work with the Year 3 students in Room 34.

Science Week Lunchtime Activity (Year 3 Students)  

Today’s lunchtime science activity is for Year 3 students. Ms Boyd will assist students to investigate Magnetic Play in the Junior Science Room. Year 3 students will need to sign up for this activity, outside the Junior Science Room

Thursday, 14 August

Science Week Collaborative Learning Activities

Today, we have various collaborative learning activities taking place. These activities will take place during normal lesson times.

• 8:30 am: Year 2, Room 18 students will work with Year 4, Room 29 students in an engineering activity.
• 9:30 am: Year 1 students in Room 9 will work with the Year 3 students in Room 36 to create coding bracelets.
• 10:50 am: Year 5, Room 11 and 21 students will work with Kindy B students to make paper aeroplances

Science Week Lunchtime Activity (Pre-Primary Students)  

Today’s lunchtime science activity is for Pre-primary students. Mrs Houreau will have bubbles in the Messy Play area of our early childhood playground, ready for the students to play with.  

Friday, 15 August

Science Week Collaborative Learning Activities

Today, we have various collaborative learning activities taking place. These activities will take place during normal lesson times.

• 10:50 am: Year 1, Room 14 students will work with Year 6, Room 25 students an amazing race activity
• 10:50 am: Year 1 students in Room 13 will work with the Year 3 students in Room 30 to create coding bracelets.

Science Week Lunchtime Activity (Year 1, Year 3 and Year 4 Students)  

Today’s lunchtime science activities are for the students in Years 1, 3 and 4.  

Ms Padua will teach the Year 1 students about bubbles in the Block 1 Alcove.

Year 3 and 4 students can make ‘Elephant Toothpaste’ in the science backyard (space behind the science room, next to the oval) with Ms Kearney.
